Program

Sztuka dzisiaj, w przeciwieństwie do strukturalnych, akademickich podziałów, bez względu na rodzaj i dyscyplinę unika granic, istnieje w strefie wzajemnych wpływów i inspiracji.

Curriculum and the idea

The ever-evolving DRAWING is embedded in a centuries-old heritage. Thanks to the friendly „head and hand” recording techniques (traditional and experimental), it allows for free interpretation of the real world and the one that is created only through the human imagination. Art today, in contrast to structural, academic divisions, avoids borders regardless of its type and discipline, existing in the sphere of mutual influence and inspiration. Its potential is of particular interest to us.

The 14th Drawing Studio, which is part of the 2nd Department of Drawing, provides students with knowledge of the broadly understood anatomy of drawing and the issues of its current, ideologically and formally diverse presence in contemporary art. The studio is a forum for the exchange of thoughts, drawing practice, a place for analyzing artistic concepts and a space of tolerance for various creative attitudes. In this atmosphere, we try to convey the full spectrum of drawing competences as well as all the skills to use it as a contemporary medium of creation. The studio is not only a place to improve manual dexterity in using the drawing alphabet (although it also remains that way invariably), it is a place where classic and non-classical imaging techniques are used, the choice of which should be conditioned by the concept of the work being developed, appropriate creative decisions and the level of intellectual and drawing skills. competencies of students. Each semester we prepare a set of exercises carried out on an ongoing basis in the studio (obligatory for the first and second year of studies) and proposals of topics-scores (obligatory for all students), the development of which should be regularly consulted during classes.

The creation of a work, a work of visual arts, a drawing is a „road developing in time”, it is a process, which is why we expect students to prepare preliminary sketches, records and constant mutual communication during the development of works until their final fulfillment in a found visual form.

Suggested by the studio or formulated by students, the themes-slogans are the credo of our cooperation. These are questions without initial answers, riddles-catalysts, which serve to stimulate individual inquiries, creativity, deepen manual skills and, consequently, should lead to the creation of valuable drawings as well as the discovery of one’s own creative personality.
