The city is a multifaceted stage under continuous change; a complex network of sites full of references and stories. Walking through the city is an experience of reflection and selective observation, of looking and seeing or not seeing, of thinking and not thinking about anything. We walk to get somewhere, to explore, or not to go anywhere. We walk around the city to connect or as an act of introversion, to get lost or to get to know and try to better understand where we are.

The sample presented derives from the international exhibition with the same name held in May 2022 by students from the Accademia di Belle Arti Giaccomo Carrara in Bergamo, and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada, framed within the Erasmus+ Erasmus Blended Mobility Program, and presented at the 5th edition of the BAG International Arts Festival at the University of Granada (2021-22). The projects by Emma Burel, Alice Consoli, Sara Danesi,  Ana Belén Gallardo, Hodei Herreros, Federica Robustellini, Carmen Ruiz de Almirón, and María Tenoury, who were the focus of this exhibition and which we see again here, propose an individual exercise in attentive and subjective wandering through the cities of Bergamo and Granada. Walking through these two places – naturally distant, but connected thanks to the exhibition – geolocalized movements arose and drew virtual lines on the map that resulted in reflections, observations, dialogues, comparisons, questions, and searches materialized in artworks that connected these cities.

The sense of this exhibition is now expanded with the participation of professors and artists  belonging to the Academy Art Gallery Interchange Network, in connection with the artistic  interchange program developed in “BAG 6th International Arts Festival” (2022-23). They are  taking part in this way, Mª Reyes González, Jesús Osorio, Olga Rodríguez Pomares, and  Alejandro del Valle from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada (Granada, Spain);  Tomasz Kalitko, Joanna Marcinkowska and José Manuel Jiménez Muñoz from the Faculty of  Painting and Drawing, University of the Arts (Poznań, Poland); and Ondrej Navratil from the  Department of Art, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic). This way,  the exhibit presented acquires a greater international character, reflecting new views of artists  who, with their works, question themselves about the parallels, confluences, and differences  between their city of origin and the city of Bergamo. In essence, cultural views that make  visible our ways of observing, living and feeling the places we inhabit.
