Do you work with photography/drawing/graphic design or internet? Join us! Together we will create, design and print a dummy! Our workshop is like all: portfolio, dummy review, mentoring program and artist residence in one! 4 days, international artists community and hectoliters of Club-mate – polish editors’ favourite 😉
How to take part in international workshop Collaboration Now! ?
STEP BY STEP:
– Read the quotes, be inspired
– Describe an idea (around 500 characters)
– Choose/take 3 pictures/graphics/collages
– Write something about yourself or attach a bio
– Wait for our reply
– During the workshop, together we will move your idea forward.
The selection process is a competition because it is a FREE OF CHARGE workshop – you only need to cover your printing costs. Our dream team consists of people open for polyphony and process. Using a quote, sketch an idea of your publication. Send us a short description and 3 examples of your future work.
Be inspired! Are you making fun out of politicians? We have chosen some „golden thoughts” from visegrad political scenes’ superstars:
Vaclav Havel (proposed by Tereza Zelenkova):
„If we are to change our world view, images have to change. The artist now has a very important job to do. He’s not a little peripheral figure entertaining rich people, he’s really needed.”
„Isn’t it the moment of most profound doubt that gives birth to new certainties? Perhaps hopelessness is the very soil that nourishes human hope; perhaps one could never find sense in life without first experiencing its absurdity.”
„Work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed.”
„There’s always something suspect about an intellectual on the winning side.”
„The tragedy of modern man is not that he knows less and less about the meaning of his own life, but that it bothers him less and less.”
Viktor Orban (proposed by Gábor Arion Kudász):
„Nobody can side step their own shadow. When a poltician does not stick to his previous statements, and thinks only of temporary success, he will be distanced from his own self, will be morally humiliated, emptied, and starts to shake and rattle like a poppy cocoon in the autumn wind.”
„Hungary was and is. The question is whether it will be?”
„Europe gradually becomes similar to alcohol: it inspires us to aim for great achievements and prevents us from reaching them.”
„Socialist governments stole everything that was more dense than air, and when the first wave of the financial crisis arrived there was nothing left to mobilize.”
Alexander Dubček (proposed by Jan Sipocz):
„Let’s live and act the way our boundaries won’t divide people but unite them.”
Jarosław Kaczyński (proposed by Kasia Zolich):
„The day will come when we will succeed, and we will have Budapest in Warsaw.”
„We have won. Everything indicates that we have won, but this is only the beginning.”
„But Sir, you are repeating yourself, you cannot stand it, you have to understand that the power of my arguments is that you, Sir have no chances.”
Lech Wałęsa (proposed by Kasia Legendź):
„I have always been and will be an enemy of communism, but I love all people.”
„Communists are great capitalists, so there is no threat anymore.”
„I don’t like to look a man in the eye.”
„Life creates new heroes, and new heroes always find it easiest to beat up on the previous heroes.”
Collaboration – photography and editing workshop based on any kind of visual material
Now! – most of the work will happen during the workshop. Please be aware that it’s not a regular self-publishing workshop where you will work on creating a dummy from your preexisting work.
(Although, you can use any amount of your archives as long as it contributes to the general idea.)
The deadline is 23:59:59, 19th of May 2019.
The workshop will be held in English.

Collaboration Now! International self-publishing workshop is a unique formula designed for PAPERLUST Photobook Festival. You will work with photobook creation from scratch, including craft, design, editing and its function in the wider perspective of the art market. You will have a unique opportunity to work with internationally recognized artists from V4 region. Prepare for an intense experience where you will work in a group as well as directly with workshop leaders and other participating artists. You will progress by presenting your work, participating in round-table discussions and one-to-one sessions. We encourage people to create visual stories. As a result, every participant will create a dummy. We believe visual is political and we intend to put it into the process.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
