ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project “From Noise to Sound” is designed as an attempt of artists and students of art to tackle the issue of the lack of the contemporary sculpture in Novi Sad through mutual work of students and teachers from 4 countries (Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland). The idea behind this project is to make a critical analysis of the contemporary sculpture practice of Novi Sad through intercultural dialogue and international viewpoint. The exchange of ideas, examples of best practice of V4 know-how will put an added value to this project as they will translate their unique experience in urban designing of this kind: the examples of contemporary design of public spaces in the cities of Banská Bystrica, Pécs and Poznań.  Secondly, our aim is to offer a simple but effective creative solution in the form of sound installations through mutual work of students and teachers of music and sculpting of fine arts from 4 cities (Serbia/Novi Sad, Slovakia/ Banská Bystrica, Hungary/ Pécs and Poznań/Poland). The project is highly interdisciplinary and involves the teamwork of various people on many levels. The sound installations – instruments are made from military waste and their making will gather teachers and students of sculpture and visual arts with scientists, music performers, composers, audiovisual artists, various representatives of cultural institutions and experts working closely together.

Furthermore, the other goal of “From Noise to Sound” is to create a friendly environment for the participants of two different fields of art (music and fine arts) to interact in the process of constructing the installations (instruments), as the only possible way when it comes to such interdisciplinary approach which stimulates the exchange of the ideas. Evidently, such atmosphere will stimulate the process of creating innovative ideas and initiatives on how to act in order to tackle this problem also from the academic and artistic point of view. Participants will all work together towards the final exhibition/performances which will present the sound installations that are made with our mutual work. It will be held on the last day of the workshop. The activities planned within the project “From Noise to Sound” include: making of the installations, workshop, exhibition-performances, short film documentary, publication and (promotion of the project documentary and publication).
