Program

Pracownia prowadzi działalność od listopada 2022 r. Jej głównym założeniem jest interdyscyplinarność i transdyscyplinarność. Obszarem zainteresowania pracowni jest przestrzeń filmowa, ze szczególnym naciskiem na kompozycję obrazu, narrację, dźwięk i montaż. Pracownia umożliwia poruszanie się w szerokiej skali ruchomego obrazu – od filmów artystycznych, zaangażowanych, osobistych esejów po eksperymenty narracyjne, od filmów paradokumentalnych i abstrakcyjnych po hybrydyczne formy jednokanałowe. Przygotowuje do tworzenia instalacji wielokanałowych, powiązanych z rozszerzonym porządkiem przestrzennym z uwzględnieniem np. symultaniczności, loopu i ruchu widza. W procesie twórczym poszerzana jest świadomość empatycznego narzędzia,jakim jest kamera oraz badana jest przestrzeń indywidualna, jak i społeczna.

Osoby studiujące nabywają zakres umiejętności technicznych i praktycznych, uczą się myśleć krytycznie o wybranych przez siebie mediach i pracują nad rozwojem precyzyjnego języka i estetyki dla osobistej artykulacji. U podstaw każdego realizowanego projektu leżą pogłębione badania „artist based research“ (ABR).

Zajęcia organizowane są wokół tematów i ćwiczeń, konsultacji zespołowych i indywidualnych oraz workshopów. Uzupełnieniem zajęć są spotkania z gośćmi, kooperacja z różnymi ośrodkami i lokalnymi społecznościami, mentoring, wizyty studyjne na wystawach i festiwalach.

Realizacja programu pracowni jest zróżnicowana ze względu na stopień studiów i znajomość narzędzi filmowych/video. Dydaktyka ma charakter indywidualny i grupowy – indywidualne są korekty i konsultacje, spotkania tematyczne – analityczne mają charakter grupowy.

Wymagania wstępne

Ogólna orientacja w zakresie sztuki z naciskiem na sztukę współczesną i nowoczesną, sztukę video, film awangardowy, eksperymentalny, film artystyczny. Zainteresowanie kierunkiem studiów i kulturą, otwartość na inne dziedziny.

Treści merytoryczne przedmiotu

Przedmiot ma charakter praktyczny i merytoryczny. Przy użyciu video artu, gatunków filmowych oraz technik montażowych, dźwiękowych, post-produkcyjnych, osoba studiująca rozwija swoją indywidualną wrażliwość oraz umiejętności warsztatowe mając do dyspozycji odpowiednie studia i sprzęt. W ramach Art Based Research poszerza wiedzę, zgłębia problematykę projektu. Konsultowane są także prace/projekty powstałe poza pracownią.

Program

The studio, which deals mainly with various interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary phenomena, has been in operation since November 2022. It focuses on cinematic space in general, with a particular emphasis on image composition, narrative, sound and editing. Students have an opportunity to explore a wide range of areas in the moving image genre, including art films, engaging personal stories, narrative experiments, paradocumentaries, abstract films and hybrid single-channel forms. The courses prepare students for the creation of multi-channel installations with extended spatial orders that may involve simultaneity, looping, viewer movement and other aspects. The creative process involves the use of the camera as an emphatic tool, as well as the exploration of individual and collective spaces.

Students acquire a range of technical and practical skills. They learn to think critically about their chosen media and work towards developing a precise language and esthetic for personal articulation. Underpinning each project undertaken is in-depth ‘artist-based research’.

Courses are organised around various themes and exercises, group and individual consultations and workshops. The courses are complemented by meetings with guests, co-operation with various establishments and local communities, mentoring,study visits to exhibitions and festivals.

The delivery of the syllabus varies according to the degree of study and knowledge of film/video tools. The teaching methods are based on both individual approach, including corrections and consultations and group work of an analytical character.

Preliminary requirements

General orientation in the field of art with emphasis on contemporary and modern art, video art, avant-garde film, experimental film, art film. Interest in the field of study and culture, openness to other disciplines.

Course content

The course has a practical and content-related character. With access to appropriate studios and equipment, students develop their own unique sensitivity and techniques in such areas as video art, different film genres, editing, sound and post-production. Art Based Research gives students ample opportunity to broaden their knowledge, and explore appropriate themes related to a particular project. Students are also given consultation on works/projects created outside the studio.
