  • Emergency Grant

An Emergency Grant (zapomoga) may be awarded to a student who temporarily finds themselves in a difficult life situation.

Definition & Eligibility Criteria

A „difficult life situation” justifying the award of one-time financial aid in the form of an emergency grant is defined as the overall set of conditions (e.g., financial, family, social, health) affecting the student’s family that cause temporary difficulties in meeting the family’s material needs.

Reasons for a student’s difficult life situation may include, in particular:

  • Illness, disability, or death of a family member;
  • Damage caused by unforeseen random events (e.g., fire, natural disaster);
  • Sudden loss of a regular source of income.

The awarding body assesses, on the basis of the documentation gathered in the case file, whether the student’s current life situation justifies the granting of financial aid.

Key Granting Rules

  • One-time Allowance: The emergency grant is a one-time benefit. Awarding a grant based on a specific set of facts and circumstances precludes receiving another grant based on the exact same state of facts.
  • Additional Documentation: In special circumstances, Faculty Scholarship Committees reserve the right to request additional supporting documentation.

Application Procedure

  • Complete the financial support application form along with all required attachments online via Academus
  • Print out the completed application form
  • Sign the application form
  • Submit the signed application and annexes in person to an employee of the Department of Student Affairs and Education (Dział Organizacji Toku Studiów i Kształcenia): Building C, Room 402 (4th Floor)
