Oryginalna ścieżka dźwiękowa jest wynikiem twórczej współpracy islandzkiego kompozytora Eðvarð Egilssona i eksperymentalnego folkowego trio EETER.

In a lush, green forest in southern Estonia, a group of women gather in a traditional sauna to share their deepest secrets, thoughts and draw from the strength of their community. Surrounded by smoke and heat, they expose not only their bodies, but also their emotions. They expel fears and shame to regain strength and energy to live. The film portrays this intimate ritual, which takes place in a tight and dark space saturated with breath and steam. Heat and sweat are as palpable here as physicality. We observe bodies and faces bathed in darkness in the process of communal cleansing. We find out what they have experienced in their lives.

Tangible and universal stories show universalism, community and emphasize the role of collective thinking in dealing with problems. „The Sisterhood of the Sacred Sauna” is filled with authentic beauty that does not come from having a perfect body, but from humor, wisdom and self-awareness. The film, shot over 8 years, is also a portrait of the Estonian smoke sauna, inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The original soundtrack is the result of a creative collaboration between Icelandic composer Eðvarð Egilsson and the experimental folk trio EETER.The screening will take place in room 204, UAP (building C).
